Happy Holidays
Happy holidays!
I can’t believe we’re already closing 2009. It was a fantastic year, and this month of December marks two very important events: the Copenhagen Climate Summit and Kiwano’s 6-month anniversary.
The Copenhagen Climate Summit, which took place earlier this month, was the biggest environmental meeting in history. The goal was to seal a worldwide deal to head off global warming. The success of the complex negotiations between over 190 countries boiled down to one thing: do the measures agreed clearly put the world on the path to a low-carbon future in which global temperate stays below the 2ºC increase?
“Copenhagen was more than the accord,” reads COP15’s website. “Many are disappointed with COP15’s main output. However, the summit did not only introduce the Copenhagen Accord but also a new kind of dynamics in global climate policy.” All eyes are now on our leaders and on the environmental challenge that lies ahead.
This last month was grand for Kiwano: we were featured on Granville Magazine, Charity Village, The Green Economy Post and on GLOBE-Net. We are also partnering with lead environmental consultants throughout North America and Europe, and we are currently in talks with Raul Pacheco, one of Vancouver’s top environmental leaders. What better way to end 2009?
Best wishes,
Sofia & Cecilia
